I grew up in Kozhikode, Kerala, surrounded by the beauty of nature. My childhood was filled with dancing, drawing, and quiet moments spent observing raindrops on grass, butterflies, and the small wonders of the world around me. These simple joys shaped the way I see life today—with gratitude, hope, and curiosity. My parents, who faced many struggles with strength and honesty, taught me the importance of kindness and compassion for others. Those lessons have become values I carry wherever I go.
My educational path began quite differently from where I am now. I completed a Master’s in Commerce with a specialization in Finance from Calicut University in India. When I came to Canada, I first joined Thompson Rivers University as a Post-Baccalaureate student in International Business. However, I soon realized I wanted to do something more people-centered, something that spoke to my heart. After exploring other programs, I discovered the Master of Arts in Human Rights and Social Justice and began my studies in September 2024. Learning about the Indigenous communities in Canada and their histories of struggle and resilience inspired me to understand their experiences and contribute to positive change while living here.
Before coming to Canada, I worked in accounting and auditing and volunteered in trauma care and palliative care. These experiences deepened my understanding of empathy and human connection. In Canada, I have worked at Value Village and currently work at Royal Inland Hospital under Interior Health as an Environmental Services Worker. My practicum at South Hills Tertiary Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre helped me understand human rights within mental health care, while my volunteer experiences at the Secwépemc Museum and the Afro Fusion Guinness World Record event in Kamloops connected me with diverse communities and cultural learning.
Through these experiences, I have developed patience, adaptability, and respect for people’s stories and lived realities. I believe that kindness, honesty, and gratitude are powerful tools for creating a more compassionate world. My goal is to combine my background in commerce with my passion for human rights to support vulnerable communities, empower women and children, and contribute to a world where equality and dignity are at the heart of every action.
